  • needs and wants

i’ve been reflecting on this for a few years. i will most likely not close the door on the topic either.

what are needs and wants? are they the same thing? sustenance, water, and oxygen are needs. “maslow’s hierarchy of needs” is a good starting point. what about wants? are they healthy? are they unhealthy? are they the same?

i claim that needs and wants can overlap. sustenance and a doule-bacon cheeseburger. while one can be considered essential and the other excessive, they both meet the need of filling an empty belly.

in recent years i have be weighing healthy and unhealthy. can a need be unhealthy? can a want be healthy? and vice versa.

i am reminded of “the monkey’s paw”. the consequences of meeting wants or getting what you want. for every action there is a reaction. i’m sure i am echoing that phrase in error. what i am saying is, the energy you receive leaves a pocket of energy for a duration. the trasnfered energy needs to acquire balance from another source. and in the story “the monkey’s paw”, that transfer is represented in tragedy.

one of the theories in the world is energy never ceases. a reason why i think balance is part of the whole transfer of energy. to gain, you either lose something or the energy required to balance is removed from something or someone else.

meeting or acquring a want or need consumes energy. i’m just going to put a pin in this. back to wants and needs.

i think what i am exploring is that wants and needs can help you or not help you. you or someone else will be impacted in a postive or negative way according to the flavour of the want or need being met and or the actions and decisions associated.

for the moment, i will stop here. i may explore this topic further in another post. i share without a script with minimal proof reading, pretty much what you see here was typed within the an hour of publishing.

i believe in connections. maybe a little whimsical, sometimes nonsensical, definitely beyond physical. a few personal experiences have fortified my claim.

there is a boy. he is doing what boys do in a time period where the physical relied on knowledge and expertise of land and water.

there is a girl. she is following in the path of her ancestors. gathering and acquiring experiences that will help her understand and guide her people.

a moment, recurring, slightly revealing, an event in a daunting future. blood. chaos. traditions and identity exterminated.

loyalty. legacy. ego. all of it is burning. seeking validation through servitude. one part honouring and another part shortsighted.

three young minds, hearts, and decisions are to clash.

that’s all i have for the moment. it has been a story that i have been thinking about for almost 30 years. i was inspired by an archaeological find near ottawa.

if you know about the find, you can probably figure out the storyline as I have shared the core. the events within the story though… i really don’t think i will be tackling this idea any further.

but, if you want to run with it, let me know and i will share some thoughts about it.

keeping things in can create detours or stagnation. and no, there is not an entire country full of male deer.

i’m not a writer. i self-identify as a storyteller, while the two can be the same; i agree that their definitions overlap. a writer is a master of prose. the prose that i employ is completely dependent on auto-correct, thesaurus dot com, and movie quotes.

did i mention that auto-correct hates me?

the phrase that sharing is caring has been stuck in my mind and heart for many winters. please, do not misinterpret the following. i have so many ideas, thoughts, and reflections that it weighs me down. and i need a space to shed. you just found it.

there are a number of convenience stores located in high population areas. these high-pop stores share expenses and revenue. the revenue surplus is deposited into a bank account. the bank account funds remote or low-pop stores.

costs distribution and revenue sharing are not new things. my idea is rooted in lowering the costs of bringing better food to remote locations.

i honestly do not think i have time to pursue any of the ideas that i have. i have decided to save them here. maybe you will have the time to tackle these things.

see you when i see you. 😉
